Circle Line opens on May 28th with the first 5 stations

SMRT today opens the brand new Circle Line. Beginning with 5 stations, namely Bartley, Serangoon, Lorong Chuan, Bishan and Marymount, the line intersects the North-South Line (at Bishan) and the North-East Line (at Serangoon). SMRT launches 7 WAB services

With the full deployment of 67 new Mercedes Benz OC500LE wheelchair-accessible buses, SMRT announces the launch of 7 trunk and feeder Wheelchair-Accessible Bus (WAB) services from Monday, June 1st. The services are:

  • Trunk Service 171 (Yishun to Marina Centre)
  • Trunk Service 172 (Choa Chu Kang to Boon Lay)
  • Trunk Service 189 (Bukit Batok to Kent Ridge)
  • Feeder Service 307 (Choa Chu Kang to Teck Whye Avenue)
  • Feeder Service 811 (Yishun to Yishun Avenue 1 and 2)
  • Trunk Service 851 (Yishun to Bukit Merah)
  • Feeder Service 945 (Bukit Batok to Bukit Batok West Ave 7/St 33)

SMRT hopes to launch more WAB services before year’s end as it takes delivery of a further 66 units of the Euro-V buses.

Transtar introduces new First Class Solitaire coaches; WTS Travel launches new CEO Platinum Deluxe

Transtar Travel, a leading luxury coach operator between Singapore and Malaysia have commissioned 2 brand-new First Class Solitaire coaches. Featuring a new bodywork by Singapore-based SC Auto, it is built on the Euro-IV K380EB chassis. Unlike the other Solitaire coaches in the fleet, PC2P and PC55L is fitted with leather coccoon seats. Transtar has plans to introduce as many as 23 First Class Solitaire coaches by 2010.

Another interstate luxury coach operator, WTS Travel have also unveiled its latest product, the CEO Platinum Deluxe at the MediaCorp Travel Fiesta held not long ago. Featuring a similar chassis/bodywork specifications with the Transtar’s version, it seats 25 passengers on 2 decks. The CEO Platinum Deluxe serves the Singapore-Genting Highlands route.
