Since Shamisha Express has been aggressively expanding their services and introducing newer buses, Jom Naik Bas felt that they deserve a special mention on our blog. Shamisha Express is also known as Shamisha Holiday and operates a big fleet of express, charter, tour and excursion buses. Mainly based in Kedah, Shamisha has its presence felt from Kota Bharu and Kuala Terengganu in the East Coast to Johor Bahru in the south. All thanks to its expansion efforts in entering new markets and destinations, in line with its aim to serve more customers. Jom Naik Bas! presents a special pictorial on some of its buses, old and new.
KCD59 is the only Scomi Coach-built double-decker in Shamisha’s fleet. Although used extensively as an express coach, this MAN 24.400 coach is actually a Bas Catar (Charter Bus).
Another unique bus in Shamisha’s fleet is this Scania K124IB 360, the only bi-axle double-decker in the fleet. The bus was originally destined for Durian Burung Express but was not delivered due to the latter’s cancellation of the order. KCG59 is among the last of the type to have seats fitted on the lower deck.
This MAN 24.400 coach is among the first triaxle-double-deckers procured from sksbus Coachbuilders. It is registered as WSJ59.
Shamisha is not only introducing double-deckers to serve more commuters but single-decks as well. The latest batch of single-decks were procured from sksbus on the manufacturer’s flagship chassis, the sksbus CP11-LW. These Euro-3 certified coaches are deployed to serve new destinations such as Kota Bharu in the east.
WTW6359 is one of the very latest CP11-LW single-deckers to join Shamisha’s fleet. It is photographed here at Terminal Bas Kota Bharu being readied for another trip back to the capital Kuala Lumpur.
PJQ59 is another MAN 24.400 double-decker built by sksbus. Shamisha Express also launched a new coach type with this bus, with a high-capacity, economy class layout.
Shamisha’s double-decker fleet is diversified with buses purchased from the incumbents, MAN and Scania. PJR59 is the first Scania K124EB 420 triaxle in Shamisha’s fleet. By now, you would have noticed that Shamisha is fond of registering its buses with the number 59. This is however, practised by many operators across the country who believes that such auspicious numbers may bring good luck and prosperity to the company. These are just some of the many buses that are operated by Shamisha Express & Holiday. We hope that you have enjoyed reading this entry.
